Upcoming Book: Design-Build Implementation for Water and Wastewater Projects
WDBC has teamed with AWWA and DBIA to write a book for utility and local elected officials on best practices implementing design-build projects specific to water and wastewater. Topics include permitting and regulatory issues, funding mechanisms, risk allocation, and process innovation.
Independent Comparative Evaluation of Design-Build
versus Conventional Project Delivery for Municipal Water and Wastewater
Facilities
In conjunction with a well-respected and experienced academic consortium, WDBC has undertaken a study on the performance of design-build versus conventional design-bid-build in municipal water and wastewater projects. The results of this evaluation should enable owners and stakeholders to evaluate alternative project delivery systems based on credible conclusions developed from a statistically significant data set of municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Water and Wastewater Design-Build Projects Can Accelerate the Effectiveness of the Economic Stimulus Package
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Congressional Budget Office estimate that a “gap” of hundreds of billions of dollars between current levels and needed levels of investment in our nation’s water and wastewater infrastructure. The Council is working aggressively to educate administration and Congress on the enormous need for investment in our nation’s aging water and wastewater systems. We are urging them to commit stimulus funds for water and wastewater projects and to specifically support design-build project delivery as a mechanism to accelerate those efforts.
WDBC Visits Local Communities on the Benefits of Design-Build Project Delivery
As cities across the country face the challenge of overburdened and underfunded water and wastewater infrastructure, WDBC has developed a speakers’ bureau to help educate local decision-makers on the benefits of design-build project delivery: innovation, speed, improved quality control, and single-point accountability.
